MSM is known scientifically as methylsulfonylmethane. In layman's terms MSM is natural and a safe form of organic sulphur, the kind your body can absorb and use. MSM is derived from a wide range of raw foods. MSM has been used as a dietary supplement for many years with no reports of intolerance or allergic reaction. It is a white crystalline odourless powder, easily dissolved in liquids and with a sharp bitter taste.
Sulphur is found in approximately half of the total human body. Sulphur is concentrated in the muscles, skin and bones. It is present in keratin, the tough substance in the skin, nails and hair. Sulphur is necessary for making collagen, the primary constituent of cartilage and connective tissue. It is responsible for the formation of body proteins that form the disulfide bonds that hold connective tissue together.
Optimal health is dependent on maintaining the process for producing healthy and flexible cells. Without proper nutrition, the body can run short of the materials it needs. Lacking sufficient MSM, the body is a compromised system, deficient in its ability to repair and replace damaged tissue and organs. The inability of the body to do its work causes it to produce dysfunctional cells which can lead to illness and disease.
MSM will benefit all people who wish to improve their health and well-being. MSM is a natural and safe organic form of sulphur suitable for daily consumption. You cannot take too much as the body will only use what is required and then eliminate the excess from the body within 12 hours however it is recommended that you do not exceed 3 teaspoons daily without professional advice from a healthcare practitioner.
MSM is considered to be one of the most natural beauty products available as it works on improving the cell's function and ability to eliminate toxins. A better functioning cell will optimally promote a healthier body if MSM is taken as part of a daily regimen.

MSM is not a cure, but may assist in the management of these conditions in a natural and safe way. People diagnosed with these medical conditions should consult with their doctor or medical professional and should not stop taking their prescribed medications or treatments without seeking medical guidance.
The changes in our food habits (ie. growing, storage and consumption) over the last 70 years, has significantly impacted on the level of MSM (organic sulphur) available in our diets.
In the 1940's and 1950's people still grew their own fruit and vegetables, picking fresh from their gardens and cooking and serving straight to their own tables. The foods were fresher with little pre-processing.
With the modernisation of farming, genetically altered foods, commercial pesticides, cold storage and pre-processing of foods to suit the modern life styles, the negative impact on the 'freshness and goodness' of foods we consume has been considerable. Most of our foods to gain the best nutritional value should be eaten fresh. Once they are sprayed, stored and commercially processed, the important elements are degraded or lost.
Consequently we do not get the MSM we need from the food we consume to assist our bodies to produce healthy functioning cells. To improve this balance we need to supplement our modern diet with MSM to replace the lack of organic sulphur no longer gained via our food.
The recommended dose for an adult is the following:
Recommended dose is based on an adult being within a healthy weight range.
Week 1 and 2: 1 level Teaspoon daily
Week 3 forward: 1 level Teaspoon morning and night
Mix the recommended dose with 200mls (8oz) of juice or cordial based drink. A high vitamin C content juice or cordial is preferred as the Vitamin C assists with the absorption of the MSM.
\"My personal preference is to mix the recommended dose with some Blackcurrant cordial in a small drink bottle and give it a good shake. This dissolves the powder better so that I do not get that bitter after taste.\"
Note: MSM must be taken regularly as part of your daily regimen if you expect to gain any benefit. It will take about 3 weeks before you should notice any improvement in your overall well being.
